Age: 25
Date of Birth: August 20th

Height: 6'2

Eye Color: Black
Place of Origin: New York City
Nationality/Race: White/Caucasian (You remember this as being in the correct order.)
Classification/Origin of Powers: Mutant.

Occupation: Investor(Plays the stock market fairly seriously.)

Personality Profile: Fairly pragmatic, at this point. Not evil, but definitely a bit self-centered. Seems charming and friendly to folks though, and usually is. But he sees the world as having a lot to offer him, and he has the ability to take it. Making lots of money in the stock market has definitely helped this line of thought. He doesn't have a problem using his powers anymore, ethically speaking.

Physical Description: Image
Tall, handsome, in decent shape, usually well groomed. Methiar, or 'Mark' is easily called 'respectable', in most circles, and dresses the part. Seems very confident.

Powerset: Mental powers. (Memories, emotions)

Ability One: Emotion control. Methiar is able to project emotional states onto individuals in his close proximity. The maximum range for this has not been precisely tested, but appears to be no more than perhaps 20 feet. At present, the emotional states that can be projected are simple, primal. Anger, Joy, Sadness, Fear, and so on. Currently the intensity of the emotion will be fairly strong, making it noticeable to those who have experienced such powers before. He cannot use 'refined' emotions or very subtle ones yet, though he may learn in time. The emotions will last indefinitely in his proximity unless he wills them to stop, but will fade within minutes of the person leaving his company, at a gradual rate.

Ability Two: Memory Manipulation. Methiar is capable of altering, removing, or creating memories within a subject's very recent past. There are several limitations here..he can only affect things as far back as 15 minutes in the person's memory. He can read this memory, (In -effect- a sort of mind-reading, but it does not give him their thoughts, just what happened to them from their perspective during the last fifteen minutes. Their private monologues and emotions will not be visible to him, but -can- be implanted or created in a false / altered memory. The quality of the 'new' memories is mediocre, at best. Someone with supernatural willpower will likely resist, and even if successful, they may have flashbacks, or dreams of the 'true' version of the scene. Those without such resistances would likely not notice anything in regards to an altered or fresh memory, if properly done. But if memory is simply removed with no new memory to replace it, they will notice a gap. Finally, if someone with similiar powers is attempting to view the memories of the person after the fact, the memory will only strike them as 'wrong' if they take the time to examine the scene in question in detail. So, if someone is simply looking for 'tampered memories', they would have to go over each one in detail to notice it. If they specifically look for 'yesterday, at work, just before I sent that memo' they are far more likely to notice it. NOTE: Other telepaths will certainly notice if he's picking around or attempting to pick around their memories. Those with experience in such things are 'likely' to notice. Those with little to no experience with such things are unlikely to notice.

Ability Three: Unreadable. Methiar is a blank slate to most empaths and telepaths. This works to varying degrees with different methods and specific styles of power, as well as in relation to what they want to do to him. In regards to altering or viewing his own personal memories, only a world-class psychic could, with significant effort, have a chance of breaching his mind. This defense is passive, and requires no effort on his part. However, he would not even be aware of a successful incursion. In regards to emotions and 'mind-reading' to see what his current thoughts are, he has 'strong resistance', and it would take a gifted telepath or empath to glean a hint of his true thoughts or feelings. This would, unless he were asleep or drugged, likely be noticeable to him. With effort, he can try to close his mind to this type of interference, turning 'resistance' to 'a stone wall' as far as most would be concerned. Again, a world-class psychic could breach this, with effort, even if he closes himself off. Also: To those with x-gene sensing powers, they would simply realize he is a mutant, nothing more.

Drawbacks & Weaknesses: Well, with the emotion control, it requires only an exertion of will. Maintaining it long-term is less of a problem, unless he attempts to affect more than one person at a time. For some reason, even though he can affect one person for very long periods, (Hours of projecting a single emotion in proximity..) without becoming tired, attempting to affect two people at once, even if it's the same emotion, will cause him to become extremely fatigued. Headache, sweating, mild nauesea, the works. With memory manipulation, the actual effort in altering a memory is minor. Removing a memory is about the same. Creating a new memory, however, requires focus, concentration, and can leave him noticeably tired. And if he's tired, he's more prone to making mistakes if he tries to do anything else with someone's memories. Also, reviewing people's memories for more than a very brief period can cause similiar levels of fatigue. His Mindblank effect does not cause him to become tired, unless he were actively trying to 'close himself off' from a gifted, world-class psychic for prolonged periods. In which case, he'd be stressed, fatigued, and in serious pain.

Projected Power Growth & Development: As far as emotion control goes, he may learn to leave a slightly longer-lasting emotion, one that takes a half hour to fade gradually after leaving his proximity. He could also learn to project more refined and subtle emotions, at different intensities, which would make detection far harder. Memory manipulation could eventually allow him to peer further back into someone's recent history. In theory, it could be used to look at long term memory, but he's nowhere near that level of expertise or skill yet. Also, reviewing those memories would be beyond him, as reviewing even brief snippets of memory is difficult as is. The quality of the created/altered/implanted memories may improve. His 'mindblank' is unlikely to improve.

Skills: Finances, video games when he has the time.

Background: Methiar Williams was born to a well-to-do family, with no siblings. Very few relatives, actually. His maternal grandparents died while he was in his teens, and with both of his parents having no siblings as well, that made for a cozy family indeed. To say he was spoiled would be an understatement, though he managed to grow out of it tolerably enough. He was used to getting his way when he was younger, but quickly found that his teachers (Once out of grade school at any rate) were nowhere near as forgiving or lenient. His X-gene manifested late, perhaps fortunately for him. Once he entered highschool, he found himself trying to survive, not knowing which niche to fit into. He wasn't out of shape, but he wasn't athletic. He liked video games and fantasy novels, (One would have to, being named 'Methiar'..) but not enough to quite join the fandom.

His powers manifested subtly, at first. He noticed that certain people he wanted to stay away from began avoiding his presence. They talked about feeling 'odd'... mood swings. Feeling sad or scared. People he liked, conversely, seemed to definitely enjoy being in his presence, even if they weren't interacting directly with him. It took time and effort to harness this talent, but he had no intention of registering as a mutant. Things were tough enough fitting in now, he didn't want to either get beaten or packed off to a 'mutant friendly' school. He avoided using his powers for a while, but soon found they wouldn't leave him alone. He began seeing things when around his friends...deja vu, almost. They'd watch something hilarious on the TV, and he'd see it running through his mind again a moment later. He began to realize it wasn't his own memory he had seen then, but the other person. Friends who went out to make a call would come back in minutes later, and he'd be able to recollect who they'd called, and what had been said. Needless to say, this was invaluable as a skill. He did his best to keep a low profile though, and not abuse the power completely.

It was easy to get accepted into a college, since he'd long since befriended some of the more studious classmates over the past few years, and they were only too willing to tutor him for a nominal fee. His parents were willing to help him into college, but not pay his way entirely. The rest he got through scholarships, based on his grades..he acquired a business degree and quickly entered the stock markets, as soon as could be. While young for such a position, his abilities gave him a slight edge. Not as much as one would think, he learned nothing over the phone, and only people's -recent- memories. Still, being able to stand on the floor and look at someone taking a call and review what the call was about was helpful, and sometimes gave him an immediate tip.

It couldn't last forever, though. Eventually, word began to get around. He had to use his talents very carefully to 'engineer' a miraculous coming-forth of his power. By then he'd come up with a small fortune, which he knew how to invest even without his powers. More than enough to help him get a minor consulting job and pack his bags for the Salem Sanctuary..he can lie low for a while, perhaps meet some interesting 'fellow mutants'..
