"I'll gather all the stars each night as they appear, and pick the very brightest one to wear in my ear."

IRC Nickname: AnE / Eden

Name: Eden Abendroth
Alias: Starcaller
Age: 19
Date of Birth: January 1st
Hometown: Salem MA

Height: 5'5"
Weight: 375 lbs.
Hair Color: Metallic Silver
Eye Color: Multicolored with silver pupils
Nationality/Race: Caucasian Mutt; German-Spaniard-Sicilian

Occupation: Cashier

Personality Profile: Laid-back, careless, easygoing, often caught staring skyward, Eden could be called lazy simply due to a perceived lack of ambitions. It's less that she doesn't have any and more that it is simply rare for her to share them. She is highly observant of the world around her and quite booksmart. Though she's hardly a chatterbox, Eden is an exceptionally good listener and is always willing to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on, and she rarely involves herself in meaningless conflicts.

Physical Description: Eden stands at average height with a semi-athletic frame and lightly tanned complexion; aside from strikingly colorful and obviously mutant features, she is unremarkable, though cute in somewhat boyish manner. Her chrome platinum hair is cut short in a spiked 'do with lengthy fringed bangs. Kohl-lined eyes are reminiscent of a nebula; shifting rainbow colors flecked with silver specks that seem to move of their own accord, sporting equally metallic pupils. She tends to dress with no care for the weather and lacks any real 'style', though she does tend to sport an excess of studded, bejeweled or spiked accessories. Eden typically wears a pair of silver dangly star-and-moon earrings and dons a labret piercing, and it's not uncommon for a pair of goggles to be seen atop her head. Recently, she's also acquired a pair of silver-rimmed glasses to compensate for increasingly poor eyesight.

Mutation/Powers: Celestial Body

Primary : Plasmokinesis ("Starmaker") - Eden's body constantly collects thermal energy and ultraviolet rays from all known source when they are available. Unlike many with a similar power, her expulsion of this energy comes not in the form of a blast, a beam or a ray. Instead, she is able to create 'stars' -- semi-solid collections of heavily compressed light, gas and heat which she can control with a thought and form into simple shapes. These can be as small as a pea or as large as a softball, glowing with as much light as a high-powered flashlight and emitting as much cozy warmth as a small space heater. On their own, they are completely harmless and safe to be handled, but Eden has the power to detonate them with her mind, causing explosions capable of breaking steel and cause painful second-degree burns to human skin.

While the number of 'stars' that can be created is limited only by her own reserves of energy, Eden cannot detonate more than a small number of her largest 'stars' at any one time. She lacks the fine control needed to minimize damage or power output by a detonation. Unused stars can last almost indefinitely on their own (What's the lifespan of a star, anyways?), but for the reason of keeping her energy stores at safe levels, Eden tends to absorb them back into her body. Detonated stars leave behind excessively glittery particles of absorbable thermal energy (which she refers to as stardust.).

Secondary : Gravitokinesis - Eden is able to, on a relatively small scale, strengthen or negate the pull of gravity. This is most frequently used on her own person, altering her center of gravity to allow her to walk on walls (and ceilings and trees and so on.) or float; she lacks the control necessary to mimic flight at this time. This power can also be applied to a radius of about 6' to anything within her direct line of sight, encasing the area in a 'bubble' of equal size in which gravity contents can either be highly increased or decreased (triple in either direction) and are similarly manipulatable by her will.

Tertiary : Increased Density ("Celestial Body") - A dense plasma core rests in the heart of Eden's body, constantly fueled by the energy that she absorbs and serving as the source of her mutant power. This is the primary reason for her unusually high weight despite her average appearance. This awards her a considerable degree of resistance against energy-based attacks (as she simply absorbs portions of them) in addition to a fair amount of temperature-based resilience for this reason. Natural highs and lows of weather seem to have little to no effect on her body, and she can withstand below zero temperatures as well as highs of up to one hundred and fifty degrees.

Drawbacks/Weaknesses/Side Effects :
  • Eden has an exceptionally high metabolism which requires her to eat almost constantly.
  • While passively absorbing energy at any time, during the day Eden goes into full 'collection mode', which typically makes her extremely sluggish and lazy as long as the sun is up. This also lends her nocturnal tendencies.
  • Gravity seems to frequently shift around her in ways that are subtle if not undetectable for others but are enough to cause intense vertigo.
  • She seems to have a reduced tolerance to most earthborn viruses (Or she attracts space diseases.) and has a rather large vitamin regimen to keep her immune system in check
  • Extended use of Eden's powers, specifically detonation of stars, puts a heavy strain on her heart.
  • Overloads of energy on her human body can cause sensory deprivation and vomiting.
  • Due to constantly absorbing heat and light, Eden tends to be warm to the touch and glows faintly in the dark.
  • Lengthened periods of time without using her powers can cause a buildup of excess energy; this will make her deathly ill. Conversely, being kept from absorbing energy in any way can weaken and kill her, with the exception of an SND.
  • Eden is extremely heavy for her size.
How do you believe this character's powers will further develop in the future? Eden's powers are set to grow exponentially; with a creation of more powerful 'stars', a varied use of what she is able to do with collected plasmatic energy. and, better control and strength as far as her gravity manipulation is concerned. She may, one day in the far future, be able to take on an entirely 'celestial' form with an even greater resistance to multiple forms of energy.

Background: Eden was born to a circus family. No, she's not kidding, yes, it was moderately exciting while it lasted. That, however, wasn't long. Sure, she learned a few parlour tricks in her time and got a wonderful taste of the lifestyle, but her parents ultimately decided that kind of life wasn't what they wanted for their children. Whine as she might, Eden found herself shipped off to Salem to live with her well-to-do aunt and uncle along with four other brothers and sisters. She suffered rather intense 'middle-child syndrome' and rarely did anything to stand out. Always average, with acceptable grades, she became neither shining star nor smashing failure like her siblings tended to. Eden chose a life outside the home, spending almost all of her free time going on grand adventures fueled by her wild imagination with her friends in the Massachusetts wilderness.

As a young adolescent, Eden developed some bad habits; she became violent, first and foremost. Visits to the principal's office and, eventually suspensions, became frequent as she helped herself to a number of schoolyard fights. The very first spark of her dormant mutation, which sent a young boy to the hospital and mystified officials, was enough to make Eden put her fists away for good out of fear that a simple scuffle might turn deadly. Everything seemed to be relatively normal after that, with Eden sinking into the lazy state of being that she's retained to this day. She was more of a homebody in her early teen years, possibly because of her developing powers and shifting physiology and partially because she felt, for the most part, ignored by the rest of her family. C'est la vie.

However, it was difficult to ignore signs of Eden's growing mutation, such as her sudden weight gain and shocking silver hair. These were easy enough to hide, and life went on as normal.

Of course, it's hard to keep a low profile when you've blown numerous glowing holes in the side of a two-story house after being chewed out by your uncle for having those empty wine cooler bottles under your bed.

The rest is, as you can imagine, history.
