Paul Fordham [Jetfire]
Posted: Thu Jun 23, 2011 11:38 pm
Name: Paul Fordham
Alias: Jetfire
Age: 19
Date of Birth: July 12
Hometown: Gary, Indiana
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 149 pounds
Hair Color: Dirty blond
Eye Color: Hazel
Nationality/Race: Caucasian
Occupation: Stock person
Personality Profile: A bit cocky, but friendly to most, outgoing, leader-type.
Physical Description: he's 5'9" tall, with dishwater blond hair and hazel eyes, his physical build is athletic. His normal mode of dress is various tee shirts, khaki pants or jeans and tennis shoes. He's quite the handsome young man.
---------------------------------
Mutation/Powers:
Primary : Pyrokinesis: Paul can generate and sustain fire, up to 1,500 degrees fahrenheit (if he really concentrates on control), for a span of an hour constant, or several short bursts. The short bursts will be only about 800 - 1,000 degrees fahrenheit and the range about 50 yards so far.
Secondary : Force field: Paul can form a force field around himself for protection. It is invisible to the naked eye, it's maximum measurement is 8 foot by 8 foot and can protect from flying debris and heat/radiation, though only to about 800 degrees fahrenheit for heat and two rads for radiation. He can keep the field up for about 30 minutes. Others may hide behindhim and gain the protection as well. It is round right now, perhaps with more practice, he'll be able to control it's shape.
Tertiary : Flight: Paul's limits will be five miles distance and about 5,000 feet to begin with, when this power manifests itself, and his control of it will be almost non-existant at first.
Drawbacks/Weaknesses : Control of his powers - he'd like more and is at a rudimentary stage, so things can (and will) go wrong if in a public situation where his emotions are driven to extremes: anger, lust, etc. He'll also need to "recharge" his powers with sleep, a good meal or both.
How do you believe this character's powers will further develop in the future? He should gain more control of his inner fire and be able to generate heat and flames of up to 2,000 - 2,500 degrees fahrenheit and project it farther, as well as be able to control the force field better, maybe even shape and bend it around objects.
Background:
Paul started life as an unwanted child, his sperm donor a wealthy man that wanted nothing to do with children, and his mother, a poor housemaid that could barely sustain herself on her salary, let alone a baby. He went into the Gary Adoption Agency, and lucky for him, babies are cute. He caught the attention of Mr. and Mrs Harold Fordham, a well-to-do couple, and was soon adopted. They named him Paul Alexander Fordham in honor of his grandfather.
Paul led a normal childhood life, no sign of being a mutant until his eleventh year, when he got angry at a tree for catching his kite - his anger turned hostile as the tree suddenly burst into flame for no reason, burning it and the kite. To this day, neighbors swear they saw a phantom lightning bolt strike the tree from a cloudless sky, but Paul knows what really happened. He got scared and ran home before anyone else found out the truth.
Unfortunately, it would not be a normal life for long. As puberty hit, so did his powers, slowly and one at a time. At fourteen, he gained his pyrokinesis, but didn't know about it for well over a year. Kite incident forgotten, this power hadn't manifested until his fifteenth year, when some rivals from across town decided to pick a fight with him. His anger grew until he couldn't contain it and then flames consumed his entire body, or so it seemed. The frightened children ran screaming and no physical damage was done, but Paul knew it would be the end of normalcy for he and his parents.
The second manifestation was again a confrontational situation, this time on a road, where Paul was walking, supposedly alone. Street thugs jumped him and he was surprised as an invisble shield saved him from rapid guinfire. His flames burst as his anger hit and he is the lone survivor of that incident. Not a moment goes by that he doesn't remember that, and regret it. Marked as a mutant, he told his folks, who tried to protect him from the outside world.
Recently, things at home got intense as anti-mutant rallies have started, and his parents' home was targeted. They quickly enrolled Paul in Cobalt Hill Academy and they pray the staff there can teach the boy control over these powers, so he can hide them from mutant haters and hunters.
Quirks/Extras (Random fun facts about your character!): He's defnitely an arsenal fan, and will watch TV shows that feature Artillery.
