General Power Information:

Sorcery
Spells: Sofia is a sorcerer of middling skill who specializes in indirect or disabling magic. She uses a blend of Norse seiưr and Japanese onmyodo.
- Vatic Gaze: This spell focuses magic into Sofia's eyes, allowing her to perceive supernatural forces. Using this spell, she can tell what is or isn't a magical object at a glance, can see active spells, and can follow residual energies.
- Minor Telekinesis: This low-powered telekinesis is used primarily for utility, such as flipping switches, moving light objects, or pulling her weapons back to her hand. This spell requires line of sight and has a short range.
- Stasis: A potent spell that harmlessly freezes one person in place, surrounding them with a shimmering grid of force. No amount of physical strength can break this spell, but a strong enough will can overcome it.
- Spectral Chains: This spell conjures four magic circles around a creature that each create spectral chains that restrain the target. The chains mimic steel in terms of strength and durability, and can reach about 30 feet.
- Aetheric Disruption: Sofia's most useful spell, this disrupts the flow of magic. It can outright unravel and delete weaker spells, but sustained casting is necessary for moderate or stronger spells. It can permanently disenchant weaker magical items or temporarily suppress stronger ones, and with careful timing, it can suppress a creature's innate magic powers. However, it only functions on magic and has no effect on mutant powers, psionics, or other forces.
- Collective Infusion: Shotgun: Bar-none Sofia's most powerful and most clever spell, this requires the use of her alchemically-prepared shotgun. It draws on humanity's collective subconscious to imbue the shotgun to make it as strong as people think shotguns should be, as depicted in movies, television, video games, and other media. When fired, the shotgun becomes an absurdly powerful weapon, producing a blast capable of blasting through a solid wall or demolishing a car. This spell consumes a lot of power so it can only be cast a few times before Sofia must rest.

Ritual Magic: While Sofia's conventional spells can be cast quickly, repeatedly, and generally without restriction, ritual magic is something anyone can do with time, tools, and knowledge. Sofia has memorized several rituals focusing on exorcism, sealing, and banishment, and frequently carries the implements and materials required for this. However, it takes time to set up and knowledge of the target or purpose; lacking either often means resorting to violence.

Pact Magic
While Sofia's skill in sorcery is middling at best, her main magical talent lies in her ability to bond with and use the powers of spirits. Each spirit is bound to an object it inhabits, which Sofia must carry on her person. Being bonded to a spirit grants Sofia one or more passive powers or skills, but through a process called mantling, she can take on more of that spirit's powers and skills.

Erasmus
Sofia's first bonded spirit, Erasmus is one of her distant ancestors. He was a 1st-century Greek gladiator. He is bound to an ancient brass bangle that Sofia wears.
- Boon: Erasmus's bond grants Sofia great skill in Pankration and the use of ancient weapons.
- Mantled: While mantled, Sofia gains peak human strength and resilience, pushing her physical abilities to the absolute peak of what an un-enhanced human can achieve. This allows her to swing well above her weight class and go toe-to-toe with vampires, demons, and other supernatural foes.

Cofgod
Cofgod is an ancient but minor house deity Sofia found in a set of ruins, and offered him a home. Cofgod is bound to a locket shaped like a house.
- Boon: Cofgod has granted Sofia the ability to turn any room or enclosed space into a home, permeating it with a sense of comfort and safety. Light becomes less harsh, outside noises are muffled, food and drink smell and taste better, any surface is as comfortable as one's own bed, and sleep comes easy while this power is in effect.
- Mantled: While mantled, Sofia gains the use of powerful but slow-acting healing magic. This healing is best used outside of combat and is mainly used for stabilizing those with fatal wounds and shortening recovery time between missions.

Arvo
Arvo is a Finnish fox spirit who once angered a witch by eating her chickens, and was sealed in a coin. Sofia stumbled upon the coin over a century after the sealing, and offered to release Arvo in exchange for his service. Though at first reluctant and resentful, Arvo has grown to enjoy Sofia's company and willingly stayed with her even after their original pact ended. He resides in the silver coin he was first sealed in.
- Boon: Arvo grants Sofia a fox's enhanced senses of sight, hearing, and smell. Sofia can fully see in the dark, can hear well outside normal human range, and can identify and track people by scent alone.
- Mantled: While mantled, Sofia gains enhanced agility and reflexes, pushing these into superhuman range thanks to Sofia's own natural agility. She's able to run on walls and perform superhuman feats of acrobatic skill, and even dodge bullets.

Yadori
Yadori was a yuki-onna who Sofia defeated and spared during a mission in Japan. Like Arvo, their relationship was adversarial at first, but over time they became friends. That friendship also saved Yadori from her lingering resentment, allowing her to peacefully pass on.
Permanent Blessing: The unbreakable bond between Sofia and Yadori has granted Sofia total immunity to cold.

Drawbacks & Weaknesses:
- Mantling Strain: Mantling one spirit already requires concentration, which can be broken with sufficient distraction or pain. Mantling two spirits at once requires such intense concentration that it can only be performed in short bursts, and mantling three spirits at once puts an even greater strain on Sofia.
- Antimagic: Despite being skilled in fighting other mages, Sofia herself is vulnerable to antimagic. While the boons remain in effect, mantling is impossible when her magic is suppressed. She compensates for this weakness with her use of conventional firearms.

Skills:
- Martial Arts: Sofia uses a combination of Jeet Kune Do, Savate, and Pankration. A highly agile fighter, she focuses on strikes to soft tissue and using her opponent's weight and momentum against them. When mantled with Erasmus, Sofia becomes a whole different fighter, able to match much larger and stronger foes.
- Swordplay: Ever since taking possession of Svinrbanni, Sofia began focusing on swordplay. She blends German and Spanish swordsmanship into an agile one-handed style, leaving her other hand free for checking, grabbing, or using a pistol.
- Gunplay: Sofia has undertaken extensive firearms training as part of her exorcist career. She's proficient in a wide variety of small arms but specializes in pistols, and has a very fast and accurate quickdraw.
- Defensive Driving: Sofia is a very skilled high-speed driver, able to navigate masterfully through traffic at speeds that would make a normal person throw up. She also has many speeding tickets.
- Occult Studies: Sofia has been a student of the occult since her teen years and has extensive knowledge of the supernatural world, but sometimes mixes up pop culture with actual occult knowledge. She is especially fascinated by ancient Sumerian myth.
- Mental Resistance: Part of Sofia's sorcerous training was the reinforcement of her mental defenses, especially against illusions, influence, and supernatural fear. This is done through rigorous mental exercises that allow her to differentiate her own thoughts from external ones, compartmentalize, and dispose of them. She has also been trained in dreamscape navigation and a militarized subconscious, protecting her from influence even while she sleeps.

Equipment:
Firearms: Sofia owns a compact 9mm pistol, a short but high-caliber revolver, and a sawn-off shotgun. The shotgun has been alchemically treated and acts as the catalyst for her Collective Infusion spell.

Svinrbanni: Svinrbanni is an 8th-century one-handed viking sword whose name means Swift Death. The weapon was taken as spoils from a draugr den in Norway Sofia helped clear early in her career; a draugr she slew re-awakened to curse her, saying the sword would be the weapon that would be used to kill her.

Svinrbanni is a strange artifact that possesses deathly powers, and is able to kill creatures that normally defy death or require special means to properly slay, such as vampires, werewolves, and certain fiends. It can even "slay" spirits such as ghosts, sending them to their proper afterlife. The weapon is also thought to be indestructible; if it can be destroyed, no method has yet been found. Curiously, Svinrbanni is fully immune to antimagic effects.

As the weapon is bound to Sofia's fate, it always finds its way back to her if lost.

Background:
Sofia was born in Toronto and had a mostly-normal childhood, her parents being a Greek archaeologist named Luiza and a Norwegian museum director named Henrik. In her early teens, she accidentally broke an ancient urn in her father's study that had a lesser demon sealed inside, and was forced to slay it using an ancient Inuit axe -- without realizing, she had awakened the axe's dormant powers.

From there, her father used his exorcist contacts to find someone to train Sofia, and she spent her teen years juggling school life and hunter training. She became a professional exorcist straight out of highschool. She's since had a prolific career as an exorcist and has developed a reputation for quick decision-making and general ruthlessness to servants of darkness.

Sofia was hired to both instruct the magical students at Cobalt and to consult and solve the school's magic-related problems, and took advantage of the school's location to keep an eye on supernatural activity on the east coast of the US.

Criminal Record: Sofia has several speeding tickets, but her main record comes from conflicts with META because of the organization's poor relationship with, dismissal, and general ignorance of the magical community. She and several others have broken into multiple META facilities across the country, often to liberate magical creatures or take back stolen or especially dangerous artifacts to keep them out of government hands.

Associates
Sofia's three closest associates who are most frequently found in the Boston area are a trio of exorcists who often work together. They are

Lew
A metalhead who dresses the part, often found in jeans and a leather vest, long hair, and big sunglasses. His gimmick is an enchanted revolver that fires magic from specialized spell-storing cartridges that he makes himself. He's a deadeye and has a cartridge for any situation, but he's also a capable hand-to-hand combatant, especially with knives.

Sina
A tall, strong, butch-presenting, motorcycle-riding tattoo artist. She makes single-use magical spell-storing tattoos, and is herself covered in tattoos, most of which are also magical -- but hers are permanent, providing various enhancements to her physical abilities. She also possesses a machete that has been blessed by an angel, an extremely powerful holy weapon.

Mirabelle
A stern and professional witch who combines a pointy hat with a business suit and pencil skirt. In addition to flying with her broom, she knows various weather-related spells, and is especially proficient with wind and lightning magic. She is also skilled with hexes and curses.
