Dantias Kross

Post by Kross »

Player Nickname: Kross

Name: Dantias Kross
Codename: none
Age: 27-34, he doesn't know for sure
Date of Birth: unknown

Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 170ish
Hair Color: black
Eye Color: grey
Place of Origin: London
Nationality/Race: British
Classification: Occult. He doesn't know that, he thinks he's a mutant.

Status:
Occupation: Various odd jobs where he can find them

Personality Profile: Kross is very stubborn, closed off, and standoffish when dealing with new people and settings. He doesn't
take flak from people very well and will usually repsond by mouthing off or, if they upset him enough, walking away mid-conversation.
When he becomes accustomed with people and where he is he relaxes more, being willing to joke, debate, or just enjoy comfortable
silences. His defence mechanism of pushing people away has never won him many friends, causing most to view him as cold and a little
mean, but those he eventually lets down the wall around tend to find him a loyal, if a bit over protective, friend.

Physical Description: Years spent on or nearly on the streets added to a handful of years at sea has left Kross weathered and
toughened in appearance and mannerisms. He's by no means bulky, but good sturdy clothing hides a wirey body used to hardship and manual labor. His recent years at sea have left it's mark on his face, deepening creases and thickening the skin, prematurely aging him. He keeps his thick black hair about shoulder length, tieing it back when it annoys him, and his cheeks and jaw are usually covered in at
least a few days growth of beard.

---------------------------------

Powerset: Earth Elementalism

Ability One: Terrakinesis: Kross is able to manipulate earth around him in a limited area around him, about 12-15ft, as long as it
stays connected to the ground. At the moment he can only make relatively simple shapes, walls, blocks, spikes, and the like. If he pushes himself he can get some of the heavier forms to go past his normal range a tad, assuming flat terrain and he can give them enough velocity. Pushing them is mentally tiring, much moreso than just forming and moving anything, giving him splitting headaches that border on, and sometimes become, incapacitating migraines. Nearly all his use of this ability is instintual response, seeing as he's terrified of it and as such has never really practiced with it.

Ability Two: Earth Solidarity: While outside and in contact with the ground, or relatively thinly covered ground such as a
parkinglot, and in fear of his life or physical wellbeing Kross becomes tougher. His physical and mental ability to shrug off pain and
damage is roughly doubled. A blow that another time would knock him unconscious is shaken off and he gets up from being knocked down more often. Strangely the ground also responds to his movements in minute ways, shifting slightly to help him stay upright and keep from slipping and falling as often. His current capabability with this ability, also only instinctually used, isn't anything truely impressive or amazing. Being twice as tough as he normally is is still well within the abilities of a normal human. Unfortunately it also affects him emotionally, making him unbelievably stubborn to the point of trying to continue to fight far past his body's capasity to cope with the punishment it's recieving.

Ability Three: None at the moment.

Drawbacks & Weaknesses: The migraines from his Terrakinesis could bring about serious health risks, being unnaturally caused. Nose

and ear bleeds, temporary blindness, aneurysms, strokes, and seizures. The stress forced upon his body whenever his Earth Solidarity is
active can, and has, lead to serious physical harm to his body. Broken bones, overtaxed heart, torn and strained muscles and ligaments.
He could even push himself past his body's ability to recover and drop dead when the power shuts off. Also, due to the strain just using
his Solidarity causes, after it goes away he usually falls unconscious, his body needing time to recouperate. His powers are tied to the
earth and his and their contact with it. Everything stops working when it, or he, loses contact with the ground.

Projected Power Growth & Development: Thankfully he has lots of room to grow. He's rarely used his Terrakinesis and doesn't even know his Earth Solidarity exists. Eventually he may be able to extend his range and make larger and more complex shapes, possibly even some form of armor or weapons. The Earth Solidarity's endurance giving would probably increase and maybe even give him enhanced strength, but never enough strength to be concidered truely super-human. Due to his powers being connected to the earth there's no telling what else could develop as he actually takes the time to train and work at it, finally accepting it.

Skills: After being at sea for nearly a decade he's capable at most common jobs on multiple different ship types and oilrigs. From
his years at and a while after the orphanage he's worked a large assortment of manual labor jobs, construction, industrial, factory, and
so forth, becoming capable, but not extraordinary, at most of them. He's capable enough with a guitar and his voice to make money
busking. For someone with no formal training he has an extensive knowledge of rats, especially their care, breeding, and training.

Background: Kross was left at the doorstep of a poor Catholic orphanage deep in London's East End at a young and difficult to
determine age. The Father and nuns who ran it were over worked and bitter, treating the children there as an extra source of income,
putting them to work at nearby factories, construction yards, and the docks under the guise of 'apprenticeship'. When the not working
they were physically and mentally abused by the angry embittered staff. It was there that he tamed his first rat, his first real friend,
before the Father found it and killed it, then beat him for keeping 'vermin'. In his early teens he escaped from the orphanage and began
living on his own, squatting where he could, trying to eek out a life working any job others didn't want. To put food in his mouth and
cloths on his back he took to stealing, training rats to assist him. This lead him to be noticed by a couple local gangs, who pressed him
into working for them, and eventually the mob. After a job gone horribly wrong, where his Terrakinesis first manifested and killed three
people due to his lack of control, he fled to the docks and stowed away on a ship. When he was discovered a couple days out of port he
was put to work. He realized while on the ship, learning the way of things, that his power over the earth couldn't trouble him at sea and
he stayed, moving from ship to ship and job to job, only taking a minimal amount of shoreleave. After nearly a decade of living at sea
he's tired of it and wants to move back into the world. A friend in Boston's shipyards told him about Cobalt Hill and he's made his way
there, hitchhiking most the way, hoping to be able to no longer fear himself and whatever it is that happened to him years ago.

Criminal Record: As a minor, varied and extensive. As an adult, only what usually comes of bar room brawling and being targetted by the occasional mugging. He's never killed anyone willfully and has never commited a sexual crime.

Quirks, Extras, Random Character Facts: Doesn't believe in magic, thinks it's all mutants, robots, and aliens. He's cockney, so when he isn't thinking about it his speech is nearly incomprehensable. Has been trying to breed Norwegian Warf rats into something more friendly since before he took to ocean life, working with the same matron line from the beginning. Always has a deck of handpainted playing cards on him he commisioned in Italy.
