Name: Uyu
Age: 35 Earth years
Date of Birth: August 7 [Gregorian calendar]
Height: 3'3"
Weight: 39 lbs
Hair Color: N/A
Eye Color: N/A
Place of Origin: Tyche
Nationality/Race: Kâbus
Classification: Extraterrestrial
Status: Other
Occupation: Infiltration, observation
Personality Profile: As with all other Kâbus, Uyu is an entirely curious creature. Despite his appearance, he's a peaceful individual, wanting only to further his people's quest for knowledge and understanding. He has a measured fear of humanoids, given how much larger they are, how closely they resemble a natural predator of the Kâbus, and their warlike proclivities. Still, intrigue is a stronger emotion than concern.
Physical Description: His head is elongated at the back, too-tight skin seeming to shift between hues of brown, green, and black. He has no traditional eyes to speak of, only an odd mottling of white where they should be in Earth creatures. His mouth is small, a viscous fluid dripping from the pointy-toothed maw. Short, three-jointed legs keep him low to the ground; enough so that he is no higher than the average shrubbery. Four arms are attached to his upper torso; one pair smaller, more utilitarian, its gangly fingers often wrung together. The other pair drag on the ground, fingers as long as the other arms in their entirety, those digits each capped in a pointed claw.

Powerset: Concealment
Ability One: Thermoptic Camouflage - Thermoptic camouflage offers concealment in both the visible light and infrared spectra. Although born with limited natural camouflage, implanted technology greatly increases its effectiveness, as well as hiding Uyu's thermal radiation.
Ability Two: Nondetection - Thanks to unique biology, Uyu doesn't have the xgene that humans have, making him undetectable to people/devices sensitive to it.
Ability Three: Tactile Technopathy - Finding vocal communication inefficient, Kâbus receive implants that allow them to communicate with and through appropriate technology. This makes communications nearly instantaneous, as well as allowing them to diagnose malfunctions in their technology.
Drawbacks & Weaknesses:
Thermoptic Camouflage - This enhancement works best when Uyu isn't moving. Although the camouflage remains active while in motion, it creates a slight blur while the technology adjusts to the changing perspective. It also becomes less effective while raining; where raindrops land is unpredictable, causing the camouflage to flicker each time one lands on Uyu.
Nondetection - He may not have an xgene, but Uyu still has a considerable brain. A curious telepath would be able to find him as easily as searching for anyone else. He also has an odor and leaves tracks, making him fairly easy to hunt through non-visual means.
Technopathy - His ability to communicate is limited by what he tries to communicate through. He could communicate through a calculator, but only with the characters available to it. Or a lamp, through morse code. If there's no speaker, there's no speech. Communicating with his mothership is likewise limited by his access to strong enough transmitters. The ability also only works if he is touching the tech he wants/needs to communicate with/through.
General - Although deemed to be "within acceptable tolerances", Kâbus are slightly incompatible with Earth's atmosphere. It's enough that Uyu can breath without assistance, but it causes excess fluid buildup in what passes for his lungs. As a result, he passively expels the liquid, which means he's nearly constantly drooling, and leaves puddles where ever he stations himself. When moving, he wheezes and coughs harshly. Also, given that his abilities are technology-based, they draw from a power source, which needs to be periodically recharged. Rather than returning to his mothership, every 8 hours he must find a terrestrial power outlet, or the technology begins to shut down. He must recharge for at least 2 hours, from a protrusion on his inner-right hand.
Projected Power Growth & Development: None, unless provided with more advanced technology.
Skills: Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Escape; electrical engineering
Background: The hypothetical planet Tyche is not as hypothetical as once thought. Deep within its thick atmosphere live, among other creatures, the Kâbus. Their civilization has existed for nearly half of their planet's most recent orbit, and with those many hundreds of thousands of have come technological leaps and bounds. Though not initially an apex species, what the Kâbus lacked in predation they made up for with cunning. Now at the top, they've turned their attention outward, to the rest of the solar system. All other planets lacking sentient life, their attention naturally turned to the noisy blue ball closer to the Sun.
Uyu was selected not only to be part of the first team to travel to Earth, but for his skill with electronics, was chosen to be fitted with augmentative technology and sent to the surface. The Kâbus are intrigued by the humans, primarily because they're the only known species native to the solar system capable of any amount of space travel. The Kâbus are curious how the humans achieved their feat, why they feel the need to broadcast so haphazardly into space, and what their lives are like. The Kâbus as a relatively peaceful race, their interest interest in Earth primarily altruistic. The journey to Earth was a lengthy one, giving them ample time to learn about them through their broadcasts, and more recently, through their information networks. They haven't yet invented a universal translated as proposed by some of Earth's people, but their most prevalent languages - English and (Mandarin) Chinese - were required learning material for their mission.
Conveniently enough, Uyu's target for infiltration and information gathering was the school-turned-compound of Cobalt Hill, whose denizens exhibit attributes unique among their species. He reports weekly to his mothership, which hides itself behind the Moon.
Criminal Record: N/A
Quirks, Extras, Random Character Facts:
An unexpected side effect of the technopathy implant has left Uyu with a sort of nervous behavior: he feels the constant need to wring together his smaller hands.
