Plot Name: Change on the Horizon

Timeframe: August 2011 - December 2011

Synopsis: Mutant-human relations began to grow tense through Salem following the banning of various pieces of mutant-related technology such as holographic watches and neutralizing cuffs. Many mutants found themselves persecuted and in some cases lynched. Numerous protests followed attacks on Cobalt Academy, one of which resulted in the deaths of several students and staff members, had META, the government group dealing with crimes related to mutants, stepping in. They offered their help, but at a price -- Cobalt Academy would have to close down.

There were opposing voices from all sides, but in the end, the decision was made to make the change. Cobalt Hill's sanctum for mutants and all non-human individuals was soon being built, and it took only a few months to create what should have taken a year. While many were shaken by the rapid change and some have left the grounds due to feeling as though their home has been uprooted, those who remain have admitted that they feel safer and more secure, and META has ensured former dean Matias Santiago that they have no plans to intervene within the day-to-day lives of Cobalt Hill's residents.
