The Return of the Fae

The Return of the Fae

Postby Remu » Fri Jul 13, 2012 8:11 pm

The fae returned to Cobalt Hill, and this time they brought their Queen. She meant business. Their cryptic offer was once more turned down, and in her rage she stole the powers of almost every superpowered individual in Salem. If your character was present in Sale on the evening of Friday, July 13th, their powers, active, passive, and even physical, have been shut down (or stolen), and they seem completely human, as though they never had powers at all. An envelope, an invitation, has been left behind for anyone brave enough to take it.

An invitation was left behind; with gold embellishments and a small gold coin attached to the inside."To those residing on the Hill of Cobalt. We, the Fairy Queen, are giving you the opportunity to repair the rift that your careless, childish stupidity has caused between us. You will be given a chance to reclaim your toys, but on our terms. Take our coin and you will find yourself transported to our realm. There, you will undergo trial. If we see that you are fit to wield your toys, you will gain them back. If you fail, we will destroy you as we have destroyed the Crows. You do not wish to disappoint us again. Love and kisses, 'Mab', Queen of the Royal Court of the Summer Fae."

Security is holding onto it until a plan is devised.

(OOC NOTE: This information is not yet public, but those who attended the fae's trial are free to discuss it, Gains don't give much of a fuck.)

After being summoned to the realm of fhe fae, several individuals representing Cobalt Hill plead their cases to the Queen of the Summer Fae herself, admist a rather chaotic backdrop of advisors being set ablaze and vampires and ghouls co-mingling with the winter faeries, likely due to their lack of power during the season. The queen and her court decided that the stolen powers would be returned, but only if our heroes ventured deep into an unknown place to find a relic that had not been seen for ages, 'The Urn of She-Who-Touched-The-Sun', something rumored to grant summer fae immense power. Mabel even offered to return one of each of the group's lost powers in return.

Despite some hesitation, the group chose to venture into the unknown, which turned out to be a tomb, leading some to wonder what caused a faerie to die. After struggling through a pit of skeletons, and crossing a pit via and ice bridge formed by a surprisingly friendly winter fae, they'd soon find out. However, they were once more forced to choose -- let the summer queen destroy Salem and enslave its citizens, or change hands and aid the Winter Court in their time of need. Deciding not to assist in Mab's reign of terror, a contract was signed, and the group was informed of the ancient beast that guarded the urn, promised protection and a way out in exchange for help destroying the artifact.

An agreement reached, they struggled to distract the nightmarish ninety-eyed hound that guarded the urn. Once it was retrieved, however, they were easily whisked back into the Summer Queen's presence. Her deal, however, was flawed, as her advisor pointed out before being set ablaze once more. While Mabel had requested the urn be brought back into the room, she never said what they were to do with it afterwards. So, following the return of everyone's stolen powers, the group from Cobalt Hill joined with the Winter Fae in destroying the urn, sending Mabel into a rage where she promised blood and fire. The few members of the Winter Court and their compatriots held off the Summer Fae who were ordered to attack and destroy while their mysterious fae visitor from the Tomb granted them a portal them back to Salem.

While things seem to have settled for now, evidence suggests that this isn't that last that will be seen of the fae...

Everyone will find their powers returned either immediately or over the course of two to three days (depending on player preference).
