News - Post-Meteorite Looting - 12/21/11

As the afternoon news comes back from a commercial break, Peter Mansbridge, anchor-extraordinaire, sits behind the news desk shuffling and straightening papers, trying to act nonchalant.

"A man is still in critical condition after swallowing 250,000 dollars in large bills; no change is expected. Also, NASA sends probe to Uranus; people everywhere giggle. And our top story this afternoon: An entire cult of killer bees were found dead. They are thought to have committed insecticide.

But we start with a local story. Just three days ago, Salem was rocked to its core as meteorites devastated the city. Damage was wide-spread, as was the loss felt after. But even now, as reconstruction continues, looting continues to occur. Just this morning, several area banks were found with their vaults emptied. The Bank of America and the Eastern Bank, both on Washington - as well as the Sovereign Bank on Essex - were hit in the morning hours. The amount taken is yet to be determined, but according to police, all three were said to have been hit at the same time. Statements from each bank insist that business for their customers will not be interrupted."
