Mutation/Powers:

Primary :
Draconic Physiology: Ember greatly resembles a dragon out of mythology, though humanoid in form. The resemblance is in shape alone for the most part (see secondary.) Ember lacks any hard scales and does not have horns, she may have but they have only emerged as malformed bumps due to stunted growth and malnutrition in her early years. Her skin is very similar to a normal human's, albeit smoother and very soft to the touch, if a bit warmer than what one would expect. All stretched out, her body is around ten feet long from her beak-like mouth to the tip of her spaded tail. She possesses massive wings and is capable of flight. The wings measure around one and two thirds her total length. Other than the looks and flight her form is basically just a very radical looking human. Her senses while not overly powered are keener than a normal human's, the same going for her strength and speed. Her nails and teeth are more like claws and fangs.

Secondary : Limited Pyrokenesis: Ember can only generate fire, not control it. The flame is created via two glands in her cheeks which each shoot out a liquid that when combined and hit air, ignite. The spray can extend from as short as two feet, to as much as twenty feet from her mouth. Activating the fire cuts off her own breathing, thus she can only keep it up until she needs to breathe. Ember can only keep her fire going for about twenty seconds at a time before needing to pause to breathe. With practice and training in her lung capacity, she should be able to carry on a flame longer. Though Ember is constantly generating the secretions, the glands can only hold so much at once.

Tertiary : Teleportation: Ember can almost instantly get from point A to point B without transversing the physical area in-between. She can only teleport whilst in flight and it is only 100% safe teleport to places she has been before. If given a good enough picture or mental image there is a strong chance she could make it there. The distance she can travel depends on how long she can hold her breath for. (Say three to four seconds per mile at her current level of control.) If she runs out of breath before reaching her destination she would become trapped in the between space until she recovers enough to try again. Though her recovering must be done on the wing as the between place is a void and there is no area to sit down and rest. A blind teleport could be met with the same results. Line of sight teleporting is easiest on her right now. Larger ports are best done in shifts with a snack break between them as teleporting uses up a lot of energy.

Drawbacks/Weaknesses :
  • Ember is extremely easily distracted. Does it move? Is it shiny? Does it make a jingly sound?
  • More power related weaknesses include a lack of great physical strength, carrying too much with her in a teleport halves the distance she can travel while teleporting.
  • She can only teleport while in flight, making space a necessity, if she can not spread her wings and gain enough lift then she can not teleport.
  • Individually the chemicals in the fire glands are pretty much useless. If one is damaged she can not produce flame until it heals. The area around the fire glands is very sensitive, pressing them will make her involuntarily shoot the chemicals. Cute as one might think she is, it is not advisable to pinch her cheeks.

How do you believe this character's powers will further develop in the future? Keep her flame up longer, be able to teleport further on less breath.

Background: Ember's birth was a strange mixing of live birth and hatching. When she was born it was believed that the poor infant had harlequin type ichthyosis (Do NOT look this up). The doctors did not believe that she would live very long, but Ember proved the doctors wrong when the malformed shape hatched and out came the draconic looking infant. Her appearance caused a good deal of havoc and hysteria. Some time during the chaos Ember was kidnapped and from there she was moved from place to place as a freak, a curiosity, an exotic new animal. The people involved either not knowing or not caring that she was a mutant and seeing her as what she looked like, a dragon. Had she been born in an Asian country she would probably have lived a better first few years. But, Ember was born in England and soon was passed onto a cultish order of knights. Luckily for her by this time Ember had learned to talk, and one of the newer cult members, being a mutant himself recognized Ember as a fellow mutant, and not some deadly beast. He was not quite as far gone as many of the other members, and managed to smuggle Ember and escape with her to a more mutant friendly place.

Quirks/Extras:
  • Yup, as you may have guessed, Ember has ADHD and possesses an incredible sweet tooth, loving candies off all kinds a pretty bad combination.
  • She does not care about what she looks like and if unsupervised will walk about in public undisguised.
  • When Ember teleports, there is a small flash of light.
