General Power Information: In Arabic lore, God made three sets of beings. The Djinn were the eldest, made of fire. They're also the most powerful, but they often fought amongst each other. Next were the creatures of light made, and those were the angels, and finally the earth was formed into man. That is when the Djinn were bound into the earth's center. They are not exactly evil. Some times they are demons, sometimes they are friendly. In fact, there are stories about families that have been interbred with the Djinn and have therefore inherited some of their abilities. These are magical in nature, passed down by blood, though not always reliably.

Ability One: Isaac can shape shift into a black bird (about the size and shape of a raven, though there are small differences). This created considerable panic at first, and not a few broken windows. He can also change the size of the raven. Sometimes a bigger raven, sometimes a smaller raven.

Ability Two: He's never been burned. It's not that he doesn't feel the heat, but it never injuries him. Likewise, Isaac never gets sick. He never has. He never gets colds, for the flu. He can be hurt, of course, but tends to heal faster than usual. Moreover, he ages slower and will live longer than most people.

Ability Three: He can control fire. He's getting better at it. The more he practices, the more he discovers he can do with fire, or at least with heat. Melt through glass windows, disable cars. He's learning more control, as well. He's very good at controlling the heat of fire, at pulling heat away or adding to it.

Drawbacks & Weaknesses: Gold is dangerous for Isaac. it can burn his skin if it touches him, and in the presence of too much gold, he feels ill and weak. He also finds no nourishment from anything but meat, preferably as raw as possible. As time goes on and his powers develop, he's gotten less and less able to handle regular food. He tends to be suspicious and paranoid. Secretive, even. These are just part of being what he is. Trust doesn't come easily. He tends to follow some obscure code of conduct not even he entirely understands, as the more magical side of his nature tries to assert itself. Questions about honor and morality are always a struggle. Moreover, the more fire he tries to use, the more exhausting it is. Absolutely exhausting

Skills: He's very loyal, and extremely protective. He's good at finding things. Finding people. If something is missing, he just tends to have a knack at tracking them down. Maybe it's from spending so much time as a raven.

Background: Isaac grew up on a Post- 9/11 world, and it wasn't easy for a kid with his background. His father was a Commaner in the navy, a ground based expert in radar technology. Isaac's mother was Egyptian. The two met, and it was love at first sight-- at least according to his mother. Dad didn't talk about it, but the match hadn't been well liked by her family. Still, the marriage happened, and when retirement put the family back in the United States, they'd settled in Oregon. By that point Isaac was nearly a teenager. The other kids hadn't liked him much, and he hadn't liked them. It made him quiet. It wasn't that he was antisocial, so much as hesitant to put himself out there and get to know others. Some of his abilities have always been there -- never getting a cold, for example, meant he always had perfect attendance.
That isn't to say Isaac's had a charmed life. As a boy, he and his mother were both victims of an attack in France. Their father was stationed in the country for a while, installing new radar systems for the American base. It was a sunny afternoon in the summer when they were out to visit a museum. His mother was a beautiful woman, even then, and Isaac was only nine, but proud to be with her on the street. Beside them, a limousine passed by, and then the world seemed to explode. Rebels used an RPG and guns to try to kill a visiting ambassador from Bulgaria. in the modern world, it would be called a terrorist attack. Then, it wasn't so much seen as terrorism as just another senseless act of violence. Isaac's mother was badly burned, but against all odds, survived -- this part of her own blood's gift. And Isaac himself was badly injured. He spent several months in the hospital and still has the scars across his chest to prove it.
Nonetheless, those experiences made Isaac determined to help others as much as he can. It's also helped him cope with the manifestation of his abilities -- although there's nothing to really prepare you for the moment you first turn into a bird. Nor is there any easy way to keep it from happening in front of others, not if you don't know what's causing it in the first place. This was the reason he ended up dropping out of school. He couldn't go back and face the fear and the questions and suspicion.
It all went really bad when he was finally alone with a girl from school. Alicia was pretty and she liked him. And he liked her. They'd made out a few times. But the very last time it almost seemed like it might go further. Isaac was a virgin, and he was both scared and excited. His heart was pounding wildly. He almost didn't have time to realize something was wrong, and suddenly he burst into feathers. Alicia, rather unfortunately, was scared of birds. And after that incident, far more scared than before. She ran out, screaming, topless and too scared to notice.
Oddly, his parents were more accepting. His father didn't understand, but he could accept. His mother did understand, but couldn't explain. When he left home, it was to escape their worry. The rumors of the academy back east made it sound like his best bet.

Criminal Record: No criminal record, mostly because of his determination to not be a force to hurt others.

Quirks, Extras, Random Character Facts: The more time he spends as a raven, the more he tries to act or think like a raven. He might look at others as birds, almost. Comparing their traits to the way he sees other birds. Death is significant. Killing someone actually makes him stronger.
